The ice falls

The ice falls

When the first cold spells of winter arrive, the water freezes over and this ephemeral ice structure is created.

Climbing on the ice falls is a discipline that resembles rock climbing. You will be climbing up the waterfalls that have naturally frozen over, using ice picks and studs.

This is a fun, sporty activity that is suitable for everyone thanks to the professional instructors - qualified mountain guides who offer introductory and discovery sessions.

There is a one-of-a-kind site in France for this discipline, in Lans-en-Vercors. The Aigle ice falls are ideally north facing and the natural rock there is 30 metres high, with 6 safety lines built in, for 10 climbing routes across the ice, of varying difficulty, between 3 and 5. The ideal place to either get an introduction to this discipline or to improve your skills.
